Jacob's first birthday present

I know Christmas is coming up and we should be thinking about what to get Jacob for that, but we've been thinking more about his first birthday. He's such a good baby, but his personality is coming out more and more and he's very independent and starting to show us he thinks he's the boss. We aren't really a fan of this mindset, so we've been trying to decide what will help him learn things like patience, sharing, being gentle and listening. We decided either a pet or a sibling would be the best thing to get him. Come April, we'll hopefully (fingers crossed) be moving, so we can move somewhere that they'll let us have a pet if we want, and that'll be right around his first birthday. But, as we thought about it more and more, we decided a sibling would be a better option than a pet - it'll live longer, doesn't shed as much, can wear a diaper and will teach Jacob more lessons than a pet (because, honestly, we don't want Jacob sharing toys with a pet). So we're planning on getting a baby boy on April 28th - we kind of hoping we'll get him sooner, like April 9th, then Jacob will have to learn how to share his birthday. Because, remember, this is all for Jacob :)

Well, if you're actually pregnant, congrats! The wording and story-telling was such that I couldn't say whether or not this gift has already been obtained and is in storage until next spring. I think Jacob would be a good older brother, lol.

Congratulations on another baby boy! It was so fun to visit with you and see Jacob's adorable grin in person :) I felt like Lily was being a grump compared to him haha

About if you take Landon and we'll get a dog. Then Jacob will have two brothers to share with and you can bring him over to visit our dog. Landon didn't sleep last night...

Congratulations! Love seeing how your mind works in writing. Now we'll have double the reason to try and see you. We're thinking we'll be up for a little less than a week right before Christmas (granted #2 will still be hidden, but then we could at least see Jacob). As it gets closer I'll let you know.
