Holbrook

It keeps rotating this picture.....I'm not sure why

Bryan's parents wanted to go down to Arizona to visit Bryan's grandma and invited us to go. The furthest we've traveled with a kid was to Idaho with Jacob when he was...young (maybe 6 months? I can't remember) and he did really good for the 4 hour drive there and back. Jacob likes to sleep and all Ben does is sleep, so we figured we'd probably have some problems but the overall experience would be fine. It was a learning experience for sure. It was good, though, because we want to fly to Maryland and I think if we were stuck on an airplane when we were traveling with kids for the first time we'd probably get kicked off the plane mid-flight. We now know Jacob doesn't sleep in his car seat and Ben needs to be burped really, really, really well before he's stuck in a car seat. Good information.

We didn't take too many pictures at Bryan's grandma's house, but this is one of them. Jacob liked standing on the couch and looking out the window.

Jacob's never been swimming before, but he loves the bath, so we figured "Oh, of course he'll like the pool at the hotel". We were REALLY excited to take him. Unfortunately, it didn't work out like we'd hoped....

We got his lifevest on and started easing him into the pool.

Then Bryan's brother did a cannonball into the pool and Jacob started screaming hysterically. It took a while to ease him back into the pool, this time without a lifevest on. He liked the sides of the pool and touching the tile, but he kept an eye on Bryan's brother and didn't like him getting really close. We finally got him smiling when I would pretend to sneak up on him, then I made the mistake of going under the water and kicked, so it splashed again and Jacob wanted out.

So Bryan took him to the patio and let him run around out there for a while. It looked hilarious because he just had a swimming diaper on, so it looked like European swimwear. We'll try another swimming pool later this summer.
