Camping at Jordanelle

We've been trying to find a reservoir like Blackridge Reservoir with sand and a shallow wading area, but closer. And the boys keep asking to go camping. I was looking up lakes around the area and realized I've never been to Jordanelle and it sounded like it had a beach area, so we decided to go camping and check out the beach area. It did have a beach area, 2 in fact, but the water has receeded so much the sand is probably a hundred yards from the edge of the water. So that was kind of a bust. But Jacob and Gus had fun camping and we had a playground right next to the campsite and they loved that. They also liked throwing rocks into the lake and walking around in the shallow part and the little river that ran into the lake.

Noah, however, was awful to go camping with. He was constantly drawn to the fire, he wanted to get all the way into the water whenever he was near it and he wouldn't go to sleep. Around 9, after he'd only been asleep for an hour after it had taken me an hour and a half to get him to sleep in the first place, I was ready to throw everything in the car and go home. Bryan laid down with him and he fell back to sleep. But he was restless all night.

This was them hanging out the next morning. Gus tried putting a headlamp on his head.
It was fun, but we decided until Noah can handle it better, we'll just do day trips to the places we want to go. Maybe once or twice get a camp site, set up the small tent and hang out till the sun goes down, then go home. Then the boys get their "camping" but we don't have to try to get sleep there. And we don't go anywhere by water unless Noah can actually get in.
